Versatile Blogger Award

I have been nominated by AlexRaphael for the Versatile Blogger Award.Though I’m not versatile,I’m touched that he’s nominated me.It’s been more than 1 year since I last accepted an award,so let’s not waste this one with silly answers. If you read them all, well, thank you.

Here are 10 Facts About Me:

1.I have no idea where I’m going in life. All people chose their course in regards to what they want to do in life.I chose my course because I was pretty good at mathematics, and jobs are more easily obtained in that field.I have no idea where I’ll be in three or four years’ time.

2.I love anything related to art, from French gastronomie to literature.Throughout my life,I have always endeavoured to sharpen my appreciation of art.Currently I’m trying to better love poetry.Art is beauty;art is a glimpse of what the human body is capable of when its potential is fulfilled through sheer passion.Ars longa, vita brevis(Art is long, life is short).Art renders us immortal.

3.Today 9gag shared a quote which we’ve all come across at least once in our lives: ”Because at the end of the day,all we care about is looks;no one falls in love with your personality at first sight.” And then,a guy commented: ”It’s not sad. It’s normal. Looks attract and personality makes people stay.” That’s deep.I’m not sure I’ll ever find the perfect one.Well, maybe I will, but I’m not sure I’ll attract her.’Love’ is a difficult equation.

4.I don’t have a favourite genre of music, though I can say I don’t listen to mainstream garbage like One Direction,Ariana Grande or whatever.I’m as much a fan of Nirvana,Radiohead and Apparat as of classical music. My current favourite songs are Alt-J’s ‘Taro’ and Apparat’s ‘Goodbye’ and ‘Black Water’.My favourite pieces of classical music are Franz Lizt’s ‘Liebestraum’, Mozart’s ‘Lacrimosa’ and Profokiev’s ‘Dance of the Knights’.I also have a soft spot for Max Richter’s ‘Sarajevo’.

5.I recently watched a video of Massive Attack’s song Paradise Circus. It featured bits of an old Georgina Spelving,a former extremely well-known pornographic actress of the 60s,saying why she did all of this and what she learned from her experience in the adult industry.Coupled with Spelving’s statements was some censored footage of her performing.”I did it for the camera.”,she said. That touched me.It was really powerful, poetic and tragic. For the last two days,I couldn’t take this clip out of my head.

6.What I’ve learned after 6 months in uni is that one should not depend on anybody.I do everything by myself and never ask for help – well except from lecturers and tutors.I’m much of a loner, and reading Quiet has made me revel in being so.

7.Ever since I have watched Mustang Wanted’s videos on Youtube,I have a phobia of heights.I just have to think of heights when I’m sleeping to have a freaking panic attack.Well, not a panic attack exactly, but a mini-seizure.

8.If you tell me you’ve read Fifty Shades of Grey and liked it,I will stop taking you seriously.I think this book’s reception betrays women and feminism’s hypocrisy. They fantasize about a man who constantly humiliates his ‘girl’.I never knew some women fantasized about having sperm in their mouths and nasty toys in their anuses. The funny thing is these same women will raise their voice if a normal man makes a harmless ‘sexist’ joke. 🙂

9.I don’t believe in God at all.Extremism has taken over, and you just have to read the news to see how much blood is being shed in the name of religion.Nowadays the very fact of not belonging to a specific religion in certain countries can result in your beheading.I’m not against religion, but I sure won’t trust somebody who follows his religion blindly and cannot think for himself; he can very easily turn against you or may already be seeing you as a non-faithful.

10.Limb surgery is something I’m considering. The problem is it is very painful,so much so that I’m wondering if it is worth it.

Well,if you want to do it,feel free to do so and say I nominated you. 🙂

  1. The award is deliberately open. You are versatile. You review books in a style different to others and books others wouldn’t review. Thanks for accepting and cool to find out more about you.

You will find what you want to do with your life at some point. It reminded me of this quote from John Lennon.

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

  2. Interesting facts. You’re great for liking Nirvana.
I envy people who know where they are going in life. I’m one day at time kind of person.

Tell me what you think! :)
