Somerset W.Maugham, Of Human Bondage

Life had no meaning. On the earth, satellite of a star speeding through space, living things had arisen under the influence of conditions which were part of the planet’s history; and as there had been a beginning of life upon it so, under the influence of other conditions, there would be an end: man, no more significant than other forms of life, had come not as the climax of creation but as a physical reaction to the environment.

    1. Is it?
Recently I watched a video in which a rhino was crossing the road without his horns. The animal was bleeding to death and was panic-stricken.Eventually it had to be put down.

I think this rhino’s case is proof enough that man has failed to understand that he is not superior to other living species.Man has made the mistake of believing that he is the ‘climax of creation’.He has failed to realize what Somerset Maugham did many decades ago.

      1. Yes like I said scary it takes sometimes incidents to remind us and it’s sad when it has to he times like that. I guess we think we are high up on the food chain the inventors and with that comes escalation of our purpose at least for some x

Tell me what you think! :)
